working the bindings

On this bottom photo it may look like I´m using a lot of force. I´m actually not doing so. But I´m using my body to counteract the twisting force of the rope. The rope needs to be tight. But not more

  1. What make of string do you use for this? I am guessing it needs to be strong and able to be tensioned with out braking and not marking the wood at the same time

  2. I use a simple cotton chord. 5mm thick. On guitars with cypress backs and sides, it does mark the wood a bit, but very little and you route away when preparing for the bindings.
